Astronaut who walked on the moon: ‘why I know aliens haven’t visited Earth'

Is there anything out there or are we all alone?

''HE was an astronaut on the second manned mission to the moon and the fourth man to walk on its surface.

Alan Bean, 85, is one of only 12 people to have taken “one small step for man and one giant leap for mankind” on the moon.

The lunar module pilot was one of two crew members on-board Apollo 12 who walked on the moon days after it launched on November 14, 1969.

The crew’s primary mission objectives included an extensive series of lunar exploration tasks by the lunar module and the deployment of the Apollo Lunar Surface Experiments Package to be left on the moon’s surface to gather seismic, scientific and engineering data.

Mr Bean has logged 1,671 hours and 45 minutes in space — 10 hours and 26 minutes of that were spent on the moon and in Earth’s orbit.

His experiences in space have led Mr Bean to develop some interesting theories about the possibility of alien life.

“I do not believe that anyone from outer space has ever visited the Earth,” Mr Bean told from his home in Houston, Texas.

“One of reasons I don’t believe they have been here is that civilisations that are more advanced are more altruistic and friendly — like Earth, which is better than it used to be — so they would have landed and said ‘we come in peace and we know from our studies you have cancer that kills people, we solved that problem 50 years ago, here’s the gadget we put on a person’s chest that will cure it, we will show you how to make it’.

“Just like some day, say 1000 years from now, when we can go to another star and see a planet, that’s what we would do because we will know how to cure cancer, cure birth defects, so we would teach them.”

Mr Bean doesn’t doubt for a second that we are not alone.

“There’s so many billions of stars and these stars have planets around them so there must be statistically many planets around many stars that have formed life,” he said.

“Maybe some of them are like our life was 100,000 years ago, and some of them are like we are now, and there are probably some out there that are a 10,000 years in the future from where we are now.”

Mr Bean resigned from NASA in 1981 to become an artist. In his paintings he depicts the experiences of astronauts, including himself, who have walked on the moon. It’s a small club but it’s also one that he draws never-ending inspiration from.

“Even if I lived to 185 years old I wouldn’t run out of ideas of things to paint on this topic,” he said.

He uses textured and lunar tools, “sprinkled with bits of Apollo spacecraft and a touch of moon dust” to create his masterpieces, which sell for tens or hundreds of thousands of US dollars each via his website

I think he means well, and as his experience, his view is fascinating.

But I think he's also out of touch just a bit. From a historical perspective, in some ways we've come a long way and are better off, but in the ways which matter (namely, the human tendency to destroy our planet, treat other living things as inferior and harm them accordingly, devour and consume until extinction, and so on), we're still very far behind. I think the idea that we would do the same as the aliens is a good point: aliens are said to abduct people and experiment on them, violate them, etc. This is in line with how humans react to each other and to other lifeforms lol. We are, after all, Earth's most successful invasive species.

So... while his ideals are nice, and there are PLENTY of good or at least okay people out there, I have to think that since intelligence is more present in predators than in prey on our planet, the same likely applies. I also think that it's likely that an extraterrestrial species might be intelligent, and therefore cunning, enough to tell people, "We come in peace, let us cure you," but it's possible that they would do so for the sake of their own benefit more than ours. They'd also have to weigh pros and cons.

Aliens violating people? on the negative line up of thought again - Perhaps that's a misunderstanding and a lot of media hype.

Discernment is a key word for when working with the star races of any kind in the universe.
You are correct on the fact that there human race are far behind, though and there are a
majority of people out there who are ok or genuine just like there are a selection of people
out there who do not know their own way or are lost in spite of what they think they are going
through and in some that cannot be trusted.

Again, some of the nation of light representatives that have been in to convey messages are working
on a much higher wavelength of energy. They - much like spirit- know who to connect to
and who not to connect to. It is always a much more peaceful wavelength as the energy is light and airy.
Its a trust lesson again :)

Yep. Not so much media hype as it is the common theme among people who claim to be abductees. I've even seen good evidence, such as people having implants (in this case, little metal balls) removed from their bodies. Any insertion of foreign objects, abduction, and unwanted medical procedures is violation. No matter how any being dresses it up.

As I said, though, I don't believe what people say all the time. The idea of light/dark, positive/negative, etc. applying to beings who humans can't understand is suspicious to me. The ones supposedly doing experiments are simply acting in accordance with how any intelligent species would act, I imagine: as scientists. Intelligence is often a trait mostly found among predatory species.

Wow, Alan Bean is very optimistic about humans and aliens. It is strange that he says this when 3 of his fellow astronauts have made it pulblic that they believe we are being visited.

Here is the organization Edgar Mitchell created
