Growing Up In The Woods

When I was a little girl I grew up in a house in the middle of the woods on Long Island, New York. I had a mom and dad in a bad marriage and a much older sister. I was almost always alone out side in the woods. It kept me to have a strong relationship with nature and with my inner child. I consider my self lucky to be able to have that experience. I got the chance to teach my self things that I came to notice no one else understood. To this day I am still very much a lone wolf. It is happy memory’s and I’m lucky to still be a little girl in some ways and I’m glad I get the chance to teach this to my children

I love being in nature too. Trees have a special dominance and grounding for me. Your children are lucky to have you teaching this to them.

My parents were busy. So I got to explore, mostly alone. As then, I am still absorbed and fascinated by the wilds and wildlife. Fields, copses, streams, woodlands and orchards were all an oassis of peace. I still feel that peace today, and it is another world. Butterflies, moths, birds, foxes, badgers, rabbits and deer surrounded me. When out there I did not need to be with someone, and I still enjoy it all alone. It remains a sanctuary...
